In bright sunshine, YGGs forester headed to Leirá in Hvalfjörður and planted the first seedlings of the project. With that, the establishment of a new forest on the site has officially begun.
The project covers a total area of 38 hectares, of which approximately 34 hectares will be dedicated to afforestation. The goal is to plant around 80,000 trees over the coming years.
A diverse forest will be established, consisting of a mix of native birch, spruce, and poplar. In the years ahead, the forest will sequester carbon and create long-term value for future generations.
